Neon EVM is a Solana network extension that executes EVM smart contracts natively on Solana, enabling developers to deploy EVM-compatible dApps without writing Rust. Neon's Twitter Score is 82 out of 1000 (a Good rating) as of September 2026, ranking #9,512 (top 5%) among 486,573 tracked accounts.
Neon was founded by Marina Guryeva and is developed by Neon Labs. Rather than functioning as a bridge or a Layer 2, it runs EVM bytecode through an on-chain Neon EVM Program on Solana, with a Neon Proxy layer providing an Ethereum-style JSON-RPC gateway. This architecture lets developers bring Solidity contracts, along with familiar tooling such as Hardhat, Foundry, and Remix, directly to Solana without rewriting their code.
Neon launched on Solana mainnet on July 17, 2023. A distinctive feature of the system is that Solidity contracts can invoke Solana programs atomically within a single Neon EVM transaction, giving EVM developers direct access to Solana's programs, assets, users, and liquidity. Transaction fees are split equally between Solana validators and the Neon DAO Treasury, and the native NEON token, an SPL token on Solana, is used for both transaction costs and Neon DAO governance.
Neon raised $40 million in a private token-sale round led by Jump Capital in November 2021. Additional backers include Three Arrows Capital, Solana Capital, Rockaway Blockchain Fund, Ethereal Ventures, IDEO CoLab Ventures, and the Solana Foundation. A community token sale was held on CoinList in June 2023, offering 50 million NEON tokens at $0.10 each. As of March 2025, the project's roadmap positions Neon EVM as a Solana Network Extension focused on a Solana-native developer and user experience.
Neon's portfolio includes Victoria VR.
