In February 2025, Robinhood said the SEC closed its investigation into Robinhood Crypto and would not pursue enforcement action. In August 2022, the New York State Department of Financial Services imposed a $30 million fine on Robinhood Crypto for alleged anti-money-laundering and cybersecurity regulation violations. In September 2024, California announced a $3.9 million settlement with Robinhood over claims that customers could not make timely cryptocurrency withdrawals from 2018 to 2022. In March 2025, FINRA fined Robinhood Financial and Robinhood Securities $26 million and ordered $3.75 million in restitution for violations including inadequate anti-money-laundering practices and other supervisory and disclosure issues, settled without admitting or denying. Robinhood Crypto, LLC is licensed for virtual currency business activity by the New York State Department of Financial Services and is registered with FinCEN as a money services business.
