Tempus is a now-closed DeFi yield-tokenization protocol that allowed users to tokenize future yield and take fixed-rate or yield-speculation positions on variable-yield assets. The project is listed as closed by Dealroom, and its former official website no longer loads. Tempus's Twitter Score is 23 out of 1000 as of July 2026, ranking #47,233 (top 10%) among 531,432 tracked accounts.
Tempus was founded by David Garai and Đorđe Mijović as an open-source protocol built to let users optimize exposure to variable yields. The protocol's Principal-Yield AMM was built on Balancer V2, supported by a grant from the Balancer Grants SubDAO, and integrated yield sources including Lido, Yearn, Compound, and Aave. The native governance token, TEMP, gave holders the ability to govern protocol fees, submit proposals, and vote on treasury spending.
Tempus raised a $1.9 million seed round followed by a $4 million strategic round announced in November 2021, bringing total disclosed funding to $5.9 million. That same month, a Copper fair-launch auction sold 6.83% of the TEMP supply over 48 hours, raising $28 million. Backers had included Lemniscap, GSR, Wintermute, Tomahawk. VC, LAUNCHub Ventures, Distributed Global, Jump Capital, Koji Capital, Divergence Ventures, and Supernova Fund. In April 2022, Tempus announced a transition toward a Tempus DAO structure, with Tempus Labs serving as the development team and full decentralization targeted by the end of 2022, though the protocol ultimately wound down.
