Blink Wallet originated as Bitcoin Beach Wallet, launched in 2020 in El Zonte through collaboration between Galoy founder Nicolas Burtey, Mike Peterson, and the Bitcoin Beach team, who shaped the wallet around the needs of local merchants and residents. A Dollar Balance feature is available in both modes, using Stablesats for custodial accounts and supported stablecoins for non-custodial accounts. In connection with the 2024 ownership transaction, a Bitcoin Beach Fund was established and received Blink shares intended for Salvadorans actively building Bitcoin circular economies in El Salvador.
