Coordinape originated inside Yearn Finance as a peer-to-peer compensation model for contributors, launching publicly in early 2021. Its core mechanism gave circle members GIVE tokens to distribute to teammates, with allocations tallied at the end of each epoch to determine contributors' shares of a reward budget. Gitcoin, Bankless, Olympus, Index Coop, and Synthetix were among the DAOs that adopted the platform after launch.
Coordinape reports more than 50 million GIVE sent through its circles, with more than 500 DAOs and organizations running GIVE circles at peak adoption, and more than 64,000 onchain attestations recorded on Base via its Social Oracle. In 2023, Coordinape launched CoLinks, an onchain social graph built by the Coordinape Foundation and described as a professional social network centered on provable, mutually incentivized connections and decentralized reputation. The $CO token launched on Base in 2024 to power Social Oracle utility and CoDAO governance, with governance transitioning from the founding team to CoDAO, the community of $CO token holders, that same year.
Coordinape announced that the Coordinape app closed in 2025, contracts were wound down, and active development has ceased, with CoDAO continuing as steward of the project's intellectual property and history.
