Mycel is a Layer-1 blockchain protocol designed to enable native cross-chain asset swaps through account ownership transfer. Mycel's Twitter Score is 14 out of 1000 as of August 2026, ranking #67,450 among 482,999 tracked accounts.
Mycel was co-founded by Aki Tarumi and Yosui Harasawa, who are also affiliated with the Mycel Foundation as researchers working on scriptless, chain-agnostic atomic swaps. The project initially launched as a decentralized naming and identity infrastructure supporting names across Bitcoin, EVM, IBC, Solana, Aptos, and Sui ecosystems, before shifting focus to transferable accounts and cross-chain asset settlement.
Mycel's core stack consists of three components: Potcat, a decentralized cross-chain swap application; the Ownership Transfer Protocol, which facilitates cross-chain asset exchange by transferring ownership rights; and HyphaBFT, a consensus layer combining CometBFT-based consensus with threshold-signature technology. The Ownership Transfer Protocol was publicly released on May 21, 2025, and the underlying infrastructure is designed to synchronize state machines across different blockchain platforms.
Mycel completed an undisclosed seed funding round in July 2024, with participation from CV Labs, FLICKSHOT, gumi Cryptos Capital, Arriba Studio, double jump.tokyo, and Incubate Fund. In October 2025, Mycel reported that all 220 NFTs in Round 0 of its private Mycel Collective sale sold within two weeks, generating $100k in proceeds for development. Mycel has published 1,046 posts on the platform and has been mentioned by 23 accounts a total of 35 times.
