Parallel is a DeFi lending, staking, and money-market protocol that originally focused on Polkadot and Kusama before rebranding from Parallel Finance to Parallel Network. Parallel's Twitter Score is 139 out of 1000 (an Excellent rating) as of July 2026, ranking #5,034 (top 5%) among 473,418 tracked accounts.
Parallel was founded by Yubo Ruan and built decentralized finance infrastructure across multiple fundraising rounds. In August 2021, the project raised $22 million in a Series A at a $150 million valuation. Later that year, in November 2021, it raised a seven-figure token round at a $250 million valuation, co-led by Sequoia Capital and Founders Fund. In April 2022, Parallel raised a further $5 million at a $500 million valuation, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, StarkWare, and Section 32.
Parallel reported total value locked of between $700 million and $800 million in April 2022, with plans at the time to grow that figure to $2 to $3 billion. The protocol had planned to build on StarkWare's StarkNet and expand beyond Polkadot, beginning with Ethereum. Following the rebrand to Parallel Network, the project has signaled a new token launch and a broader frontier beyond its original chain focus. Additional backers include Polychain Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Slow Ventures, Blockchain Capital, and Shima Capital, while Alameda Research was a former backer. Parallel has published 6,455 posts on the platform.
