OpenRank is a decentralized ranking and reputation protocol that was built by Karma3 Labs and shut down in June 2026 when founder Sahil Dewan announced the project would cease development, return remaining capital to investors, open-source its materials, and archive its repositories. OpenRank's Twitter Score is 13 out of 1000 as of July 2026, ranking #82,758 among 531,432 tracked accounts.
OpenRank was founded by Sahil Dewan and was formerly affiliated with Karma3 Labs, which raised a $4.5M seed round in March 2024 to build the protocol, with Galaxy and IDEO CoLab Ventures leading the round. Additional backers included Spartan, SevenX, HashKey, Flybridge, Delta Fund, Draper Dragon, and Compa Capital.
OpenRank was designed as an open, verifiable reputation-computation layer through which developers could submit reputation graphs and receive rankings, recommendations, and trust scores. Its architecture committed input data and computed results to a data-availability layer, making outputs accessible and verifiable without requiring permission. The protocol supported graph-based reputation algorithms including EigenTrust, as well as Hubs and Authorities, collaborative filtering, and matrix factorization.
OpenRank drew on social and on-chain data from Farcaster, Lens, Ethereum, and Base, covering token transfers, contract interactions, and NFT ownership, to power APIs for spam filtering, user and content ranking, feeds, and personalized recommendations. Developer and repository scores generated by OpenRank were also used in Optimism Retro Funding 5 for guest-voter selection and metrics. OpenRank has accumulated 189 posts and has been mentioned by 21 accounts a total of 37 times.
