NIFTEX was an NFT fractionalization platform that allowed users to split NFTs into tradeable ERC-20 tokens called Shards, with the underlying NFT locked in a smart contract and recoverable through a buyout clause. NIFTEX was acquired in October 2021 and subsequently shut down as the NFT market declined, though its immutable smart contracts remain active on Ethereum. NIFTEX's Twitter Score is 67 out of 1000 (a Good rating) as of July 2026, ranking #14,285 (top 5%) among 531,432 tracked accounts.
NIFTEX was co-founded by Joel Hubert and Mark Le. The platform launched its Alpha and, per its own announcement dated November 3, 2020, had generated more than $1,800,000 in trading volume across its NFT fraction markets by that date. That same announcement revealed a $500,000 seed round led by 1kx, with participation from CoinFund, Sparq Ventures, Digital Currency Group, and MetaCartel Ventures.
NIFTEX was acquired in October 2021, though the acquirer was not publicly disclosed, per Tracxn citing ChainNews. Although the platform itself shut down, its smart contracts continue to operate on Ethereum. In August 2024, CryptoPunk #2386, which had been fractionalized on NIFTEX into 10,000 Shards, was acquired through a shotgun buyout for 10 ETH, roughly $23,000, despite prior bids that had exceeded 900 ETH. NIFTEX has published 985 posts and has been mentioned by 49 accounts a total of 102 times.
