Taki Games was co-founded by Kevin Chou and Sakina Arsiwala, beginning as a social-token project before pivoting to a player-earned mobile gaming network powered by the TAKI token. The project was formerly incubated by SuperLayer. Its Takinomics model used game-generated revenue to buy TAKI on the open market and burn tokens corresponding to player reward emissions, creating a deflationary loop tied to actual gameplay activity. The TAKI public sale was conducted through initial exchange offerings on OKX and Gate.io.
Taki Games completed a merger with the earlier Unite project in January 2024, after which former Unite CEO Weiwei Geng became CEO of Taki Games. The company stated it invested a combined $2.5 million in fiat and TAKI to acquire Bored Button and Mom's Kitchen and complete that merger. Taki Social was discontinued in March 2024, with registrations, rewards and purchases phased out ahead of a final shutdown. At the May 2024 rebrand announcement, Taki Games reported more than 100 games and mini-game collections, over 5 million downloads, more than 300,000 monthly active users, and over 170,000 new unique wallets since January 2024. The successor Unite ecosystem uses $UNITE as its utility and governance token, an ERC-20 on Base with a stated total supply of 30 billion.
